Do steroid shots or oral steroids bring on herpes or fever blister outbreaks?
I heard this, would like to know. My friend gets them from time to time on her lip and they are painful. Wants to avoid steroid shots if this can cause them to come out.
Every body's system is different. I take oral steroids on a regular basis and have not experienced any outbreaks of fever blisters or herpes. These viruses must already be present in the system for an outbreak to occur.
My 6 months old will have to be given 4 shots tomorrow and one oral vaccination. I hate this.?
Does anyone know any remedies or how to prepare her to have less discomfort? What are you opinions on babies having so many immunizations these days?
The schedule they have no is not recommended by the AAMA it is recommended by insurance companies to cut down on paperwork, claims, etc. My aunt works for Aetna and told me this, plus I work in the medical field. My guys do not follow that schedule. I didn't follow it for my guys and by the age of two they were caught up to exactly where they would have been if I would have followed the schedule. It does not take a genius to figure out that 4 shots at 2, 4, and 6 months old is way too much for a newborn baby to handle sometimes. If you go to a free clinic they do them one at a time....because it's a free clinic and the insurance companies are not involved. You don't need to follow that schedule. My guys got no more than at a time and only got one until they were a year.
Penicillin shots vs. oral antibiotics?
Which one is more effective? and why do most doctors chose oral antibiotics if penicillin or amoxicillin shots are more effective and provide faster cure.
Penicillin shots for strep throat are a perfectly valid alternative for those who won't remember to take the whole course of oral treatment, but won't affect how fast you get well.
There simply aren't very many infections any more in which IV penicillin or ampicillin (amoxicillin doesn't come in a shot) are useful by themselves, and intramuscular injections otherwise offer no advantage. We'd use the shots if the situation in your hypothesis ever came up, but it doesn't. This seems to be a persistent lay question in people who lived in the 1940's and 50's, and it seems to have been handed down to the next generation or two, but the perception that shots work better or faster than pills is just not based in current fact.
Did you first have oral before or after having the gardasil shots?
And what age???
It prevents some forms but not all.... and it doesn't protect you from herpes, syphilis, aides or any other STIs either. Oh, BTW, they are now finding HPV warts and throat cancer from them in guys as well as girls, so you don't even have to have oral sex to catch it anymore.... you can get it from kissing!
What are the chances of catching oral herpes from sharing a shot glass?
I took 2 or 3 shots with some one whom I now find out may have oral herpes. What are the chances that I may have contracted the virus?
Low, but not entirely zero. Alcohol doesn't do a great job of breaking down virus cells (unlike bacteria, which it kills quickly), but it's fairly toxic to the cells on the surface of your skin that would have been exposed to the virus. If it happened recently, you might still test negative if you've picked up the virus but it hasn't spread.
At this point, your best course of action is to keep your fingers crossed and find out if the other person really does have herpes or not (it could just be a cold sore, or a rumour). Once you know for sure, talk to a doctor or medical clinician about testing and treatment options.
Oral herpes is treatable, but not curable, so you'll be able to live a relatively normal life. Just inform anyone you hook up with between now and when you find out about your situation, it's the responsible thing to do.
How long it takes for oral numbing shot to wear off?
i got done at the dentist about an hour ago, they gave me three shots.. when does it wear off cuz i'm hungry?
It usually takes between 3 and 4 hours before it starts to wear off, and once it does it usually only lasts a few minutes before you're back to normal.
I am a type 2 diabetic, doctor started with a once a day insulin shots, suggestion on diet?
I am a type 2 diabetic, doctor started with a once a day insulin shots, most oral meds causes bad reaction. Work graveyard off weekends, sleeping pattern changes also. Any suggestion on snacks, and main meals?
Every diabetic is different, so you get a glucometer and test 2 hours after meals, and in that way you find how different foods affect you. Your whole life becomes one big science experiment. 8^)
But the conventional wisdom is that meals are 1/2 veggies, 1/4 meat or other protein, 1/4 starch. I find that I can get away with half a potato, or a small portion of french fries, but the same amount of rice drives my blood sugar off the chart. But we are all different so as they say, your mileage may vary.
For snacks, nuts are a good idea. For diabetics, nuts are a health food. Peanut butter on crackers works pretty well (for some reason crackers don't seem to affect me like bread does). Or cheese and crackers.
How do they give the two month baby shots?
I have to take my 10 week sold baby to get her 2 month shots tomorrow. The doctor told me its one oral and 3 shots in the legs. How do they give three shots in the legs? Is it one at a time, or two at once and then the 3rd, i just want to know so i know what to expect. Im scared!
2 in one leg and 1 in the other every baby takes it differently for me and my son i cryed more then him..the nurse comes in and does it after the visit with the doctor-dress him in something very easy to get on and off and make his next appointment beofre you get in because your going to want to get his clothes on and get home as quick as you can i give him a dose of baby telenol before we go in so it kicks in at just the right time...watching your baby get shots is horrible, stressful and can even make you feel quilty but it far outweights the things he can catch without the shots hang in their and good luck!
FTM : oral testosterone vs Testosterone shots? pros and cons?
Can you guys list some of the pros and cons of BOTH oral testosterone (pills) and Testosterone shots? thanks! :)
This really is something you need to discuss with your endocrinologist because they are going to prescribe it. But I had to educate my doctor on my estrogen so I understand.
The pills are not as effective. They are easier to get. You don't have to deal with needles (no fear, no disposal)
Shots - more effective, harder to get in some jurisdictions, you have to learn how to give yourself a shot. Sometimes you can't do it and have to get a friend to do it. You have to carefully dispose of your sharps (like diabetics)
This all said - if I could talk my doctor into estrogen shots I would do it, but I can't, so I use the patch. If I were you I would try my best to get shots.
